I have stood along side friends and family of my own who have fought and shown what a true warrior looks like.  Although it’s never easy, be open to the beauty in the process. The lessons of vulnerability, understanding what is truly valuable in our lives, gratitude for the things we take for granted, being able to forgive what we couldn’t before, and how very human we all are and the bonds that connect us. 🤝

Here’s a dynamic strengthening sequence that includes & builds on one of my favorite transitions: stepping from side plank forward into half moon! 🤗

Now this half moon may not be quite as exciting as the crazy wall-balancing half moon I featured a few posts ago 😜, but I still love the way we enter & exit from this one. See if you do as well!
.
Starting in plank pose, take a few controlled alternating single leg lifts. These are great for hip extension work (ie. glutes & hamstrings) on the leg that’s lifting, and they’re great for adding more load to the hip flexors of the non-moving leg, and also to the core in general.

Then shift into side plank (vasisthasana) and as slowwwly as possible, step your top foot forward.
.
Pivot all the way around to find half moon (ardha chandrasana) and find your groundedness here for a moment. Then lower your back foot to the floor - and for some extra work for the standing leg, try to minimize the use of your hands to help until you really need to 😀
.
Then return to your plank “walks” and head into this entire sequence on the second side.

Plank.... Mari kita bahas manfaatnya dulu.
.
1. Memperbaiki postur tubuh, hal ini dikarenakan gerakan plank yang benar pada dasarnya mengoreksi tulang bekakang yang bengkok serta memperkuat otot-otot di punggung bawah, pinggul, dan panggul.
.
2. Meningkatkan kelenturan tubuh, rutin melakukan plank dapat menstabilkan koordinasi tubuh sekaligus jangkauan gerak lebih leluasa serta efisien serta mencegah risiko cidera (karena otot sering dilatih) misal lagi lari lari dikejar-kejar waktu, naik turun tangga , kalau yang tidak biasa bsa saja keseleo atau kram otot. (biasanya di betis).
.
3. Memantapkan keseimbangan, yaap dri gerakan plank ini memang fokus pada keseimbangan tubuh. Manfaatnya sama seperti no 2 jadi gak mudah cidera.
.
4. Mengencangkan perut, nah ini dia manfaat yang ditunggu-tunggu. Rutin melakukan plank selain mengencangkan otot perut, plank juga disinyalir membakar kalori sekitar 120 jika dilakukan dengan benar selama 5 mnit , hampir setara dengan lari joging 10 mnit lohh...

Cara melakukannya??
.
Pastikan sudutnya sesuai gambar, pantat atau bokong tidak teralu naik, yakni membentuk sudut 90 derajat.
.
Pastikan Kamu melibatkan otot perut kamu untuk menahan beban , bukan dengan punggung ya, punggung memang lurus tapi jangan membebankan seluruhnya pada punggung, pada dasarnya punggung sebagai penyangga.
.
Atur juga pernapasan kamu supaya plank lebih tahan lama, karena pada dasarnya karena kita gak fokus , napas menjadi terengah-engah dan yaaa akhirnya jadi gak kuat lama deh.
.
Santai saja, awal melakukan memang berat, cobalah dahulu 30 detik, lalu istirahat 30 detik dan lakukan lagi hingga 5 set.
.
Jika sudah terbiasa bisa per 1 menit daaann kalau benar-benar sudah terbiasa bisa dinaikkan dong jadi 10 sampai 15 mnit, masa mau segitu-gitu aja hehehe..
.
Yaaap itu aja, gerakan yang mudah yang disebut Plank ini gak butuh alat dan dapat dilakukan di rumah dan gak butuh tempat suuuupppeeerr luasss..

Nos encanta llevar a los niños para que sientan que pueden jugar con libertad.
Paseamos con nuestro perros, con nuestros familiares y con amigos...
Y por supuesto, corremos por los parques, hacemos ejercicio y tratamos de respirar aire puro.

We all take #water for granted (don't get me started on how our species is poisoning the lakes, rivers and oceans). But how many of us keep our bodies adequately hydrated?
60% of our bodies comprise water and around 90% of our blood. Since our blood is crucial in delivering oxygen to all parts of our body it's not surprising that a water deficiency of as little as 1.5% can lead to sluggishness and fatigue.
Water is essential for almost all bodily functions. 💧💧💧💧

Conventional training builds muscle and creates tension. This is a good thing! Building a strong structure to withstand life’s constant ups⬆️ and downs⬇️, pushes➡️ and pulls⬅️. (Think: sit-up from a chair, walk up stairs, open a 🚗 door).

Unconventional training stabilizes and conditions the body to be ready for challenges in the three dimensional world we live in ⚛️ (Think: carry something heavy in one arm, catch your 📱 after almost dropping it, stand on one 🦵 to take a shoe off).

In video 1, Jay works with a #steelclub through a rotational single arm clean. The purpose is to maintain stability and bracing of the body from 🦶 to 🤴🏻 while guiding the club through a swing, absorbing the load on each side. Create length and strength through all lines of tension.

Video 2 is a side plank with chaos added. Planking into a thick band positioned at the proper height intensifies every stabilizer of the shoulder complex and core. This 🔥 up everything at a much higher rate than a static plank on the floor.

You gotta love @jessicabento_mpt is back at it with some great explanations on why most people miss the proper way to progress these 3 planks. Listen to “the boss”.... It isn’t hard to get people into understanding why the #plank is good for core training. The full body tension helps us learn foundational #stablitytraining which is important for building more dynamic strength. The question becomes where does our training of the plank and core strength go from there. Interestingly enough, most people don’t have the proper progression because they forget the why’s of their exercises. ……

While most would assume that based off just by the use of weight itself that the plank with chest touch would be the FIRST of our progressions and the #kettlebell plank row would be last. That shows you how we often misunderstand these exercises. Since the chest touch has no load, it almost means we have the least ability to create tension and rely on that tension for stability. Therefore, it relies far more on “reactive” #corestrength which is actually a higher level form of core work. ……

The Ultimate #Sandbag lateral drag is actually our start because the grip, drag, and friction on the ground gives us the MOST feedback and tension of the drill. Part of the reason we use the Ultimate Sandbag here is to make initial connections of the chains of the body that help teach how to maintain proper posture and alignment. This movement teaches by the weight HOW to resist rotation and properly stabilize the pelvis and trunk. ……

The kettlebell plank row I am doing is a layer upon the Ultimate Sandbag drag as I can create tension into the kettlebell with my grip and use the rowing kettlebell to give me tension as well as to use that load to maintain those kinetic chain connections. Notice I am using a bigger kettlebell for my stance arm not to risk tipping over while rowing a smaller one. This isn’t to get your back “jacked” but to keep that lat, core, and connection with the #glutes . …….

In this situation, resistance to gravity is your load and the collapse of the lumbar spine in plank is no bueno. It will compress and cause insurmountable pressure on tissues and structures that will inevitably cause discomfort and pain.

I'm not trying to scare you. If you do this a couple of times in your life, chances are you won't cause any repairable harm. BUT if you do a lot of planks and chaturangas with little control, you may be faced with the need for some type of rehab.

The block (like the ball in my previous posts) provides excellent external sensory feedback to give your low back something to push into and improves awareness to that area.

Need to reduce the load? Drop your knees and put your hands on blocks to raise your upper body, shifting the weight and reducing the load even further. 😏

Some days are good though. Like this one was. I tried to move as slow as I could so the good day remained good 😍

Also realised that this challenge specifically is designed for me I think, coz when I take photos for a challenge, I run fast and crazy (coz I AM Crazy) and sometimes end up hurting my shoulder but because this one needs videos, and my craziness will scare everyone off, I am moving much slower and much more peacefully thus also helping my shoulder take baby steps towards becoming better 😘☺️🥰

Forearm Side Plank. Working on rotating from Plank to Side Plank. Our previous post stated on the side which is gentler on the shoulder. Moving from Plank to Side Plank includes rotation in the shoulder joint which can be tricky. By turning the arm in there can be less twerk on the shoulder. This can be tricky on the knees though. A blanket under the knees can be helpful. Moving slowly is also key.  Coming up: knees off the mat and Full Plank rather than Forearm. We explore Side Planks in our Core Yoga Class on Thursdays at 9:30.
